About the Project

What is the Placement Project?

Started in 2015, the project aims to have a positive impact on student engagement with the placement experience during their time as a student nurse or midwife at the University of Manchester.  As a student-led project, we share ideas and experiences from practice placements with the aim of supporting student nurses and midwives to make the most of their time on placement.

Experienced student nurses and midwives share their ideas about how to gain the best from clinical experience, whatever field they are in, and hopefully inspire and assist confidence building for new students in relation to their role on placement. The videos and articles will be available to students as they prepare for placement and as a resource during their placements.

All first years should have received a hard copy of the ‘Placement Survival Pack‘ booklet before starting placement. This booklet was designed to accompany this website to help prepare you for placement and be a useful source of information to take with you to help answer any worries or queries you may have.  It can be downloaded to print off from the above link or viewed online on the Placement Survival Pack page.
